July 18, 2011 Economic Indicators – Mixed Signals from our “Stop Lights”
Good news and bad news from our salient economic indicators. The growth rate of wages & salaries, nonresidential construction, and 1% local option sales tax continue to increase in the state. Consumer sentiment went south on us this month, down to 63.8 from 71.5. Also going red were residential construction and construction employment in Utah. Both of these indicators are part of the Conference Boards leading economic index nationally.
